This practical Manual has been prepared according to the syllabus of the Medical Council of India for the first professional MBBS students. While due attention has been given to the content, the Manual has been kept relatively more compact. Emphasis has been given to the non-invasive human experiments to make them more clinical and interesting for the students. The Manual provides ideal and original graphs for analysis by the students so that they can understand the basic aspects of the clinical science clearly and succinctly. Graphs included in the book have been freshly drawn to make them scientifically more accurate; most of these graphs were recorded on Polyrite or on Students physiograph, Showing far better recording as compared to the records on simple kymograph. This very fact can easily be appreciated on seeing the graphs.

Color photographs related to the clinical examination in normal individuals have been incorporated in the Manual. The methods and postures shown in this photograph are based on the procedures given in Hutchisons Clinical Methods. Section 4 covering mammalian experiments, aimed at the postgraduate students, provides the original graphs for calculation and discussion. Sufficient space has been given for writing observations, calculations, results, and discussion in each experiment. About four to five (blank and ruled) pages have been provided at the end of each section to add any extra experiment(s) which the teacher may consider appropriate, depending upon the availability of specific equipment in the department. Some possible viva voce questions have been given at the end of each experiment, and suitable space was provided in the form of students' notes to write the answers. Intentionally, no answer has been given alongside the questions so as to encourage the student to use his/her theoretical knowledge in finding the answers. However, answers to some select questions, of which the answer are not easily available, have been given at the end of the Manual.
